Edibles & Essentials

About

EDIBLES & ESSENTIALS IS A SMALL ARTISAN MARKET AND CAFÉ LOCATED IN THE ST. LOUIS HILLS NEIGHBORHOOD ON HAMPTON AVE BETWEEN EICHELBERGER AND HOLLY HILLS.

A small artisan café and market, Edibles & Essentials aims to inspire and equip the chef within us all.

It’s a place where you can enjoy mouth-watering, house-made comfort food or more eclectic cuisine over engaging conversation and laughter – inside or on our beautiful all-season patio in back. During summer months, also enjoy the live music. Think winery experience, city style!

Consider it your quick stop for a healthier option while on the go.

It’s a delightful market where you can shop for culinary must-haves.

And it’s an experience that will make you feel right at home.

First-time guests often say how charming the café is and are shocked at the quality of food they get at such reasonable prices. We don’t accept tips, but the owner welcomes your comments and smiles!

At Edibles & Essentials, we source some of the finest foods through local vendors and farmers. We use only real butter, sugar and honey – and no artificial sweeteners. And we take a tremendous amount of pride in limiting our carbon footprint by being as sustainable as possible.

Edibles & Essentials is located in St. Louis Hills on Hampton Avenue, halfway between Eichelberger Street and Holly Hills Avenue. With our subtle storefront set back from the road, it’s easy to drive past, or to think the parking lot is full.

But rest assured. In addition to the spots in front, you may also park along the street anytime or in the neighboring lot during evening hours.

So come in, shop, lounge, linger, enjoy! We look forward to your visits.

Matt and Mary Beth Borchardt

Welcome to the neighborhood!!! The market/cafe sounds amazing…..wish you had better parking. Can you get a gate from DuBourg to your place?

We met Matt back when he was chef at L’ecole on Olive Blvd and loved his cooking so much we ate there nearly every day it was open. If this new place is half as good as that was, it’ll immediately become our go-to favorite. Congratulations, Matt, so glad you got your own place! You deserve it, and we’re proud of you.
